Well, as I wrote the title for this blog entry, I had Carly Simon's "Anticipation" running through my head, with the word "Procrastination". That's what I've been about for the past few days, at least as far as my original plans have gone.
My office is still a disaster. Not much has changed there. However, I have done a few things in the kitchen that I was not actually thinking about. A solution to the perennial problem of food storage has presented itself. Odd how things like that come about sometimes.
Last week, a part in the dishwasher broke, which rendered it useless. The repair person has been called, he came and looked at it, and left, presumably to order a part. I haven't heard from him since, despite follow-up calls. The day after, the microwave oven died, after cremating a potato.
What does all this have to do with losing, decluttering, etc?
Well, I've been doing the dishes by hand for a week now. It's a real drag, but has underlined the necessity of keeping up with the small jobs so that they don't become overwhelming. It has also meant that I've been spending more time in the kitchen, contemplating all the stuff that I have that I don't really need (does anyone really need FOUR soup ladles?)
The microwave dilemma again challenged my efficiency and that of the rest of the family. How do you actually melt cheese without one? Reheat coffee? Warm up dinner for a late arrival?
We ended up buying a new microwave, and its size presented a challenge as it didn't fit in the spot the old one had.
Needless to say, the kitchen has been slightly rearranged, and I've again become aware of how much extra stuff we have. Things will be leaving the kitchen in the next little while, as I reorganize and declutter.
I guess this is weight that needs to be lost first.
I'll let you know.
